Beacons Way
The Beacons Way long distance walk.
The Beacons Way is a 163km (101 mile) multi day walking route (Normally 8),
Through some of the most varied and beautiful upland landscapes in Great Britain; the Brecon Beacons National Park, situated in South Wales.
The walk emphasises the scenic elements of the National Park, but does contain 7200m (23700ft) of ascent, and crosses areas where navigation can be difficult in poor weather conditions.
It is a strenuous walk, designed for experienced walkers, with plenty of ascents and descents. Wet weather can make the route extremely difficult and dangerous and large sections of the route are isolated.
It can be walked in its entireity in about 8 days but could easily take twice as long as there is so much to explore and enjoy en route.
While the route takes in the main high spots, for much of the time it frequents landscapes known only to those who have had the time to explore over the years.
The Beacons Way covers the length of the National Park but all who attempt it will no doubt want to return again to continue their exploration of this very beautiful area.
